NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Nuclear Power Plant is an electrical generating facility using a nuclear reactor as its heat source to provide steam to a turbine generator.

Nuclear Reactor is a device in which nuclear fission may be sustained and controlled in a self supporting nuclear reaction. Usually considered as the heart of the nuclear power plant.

There are many types of Nuclear Reactors designed and being successfully implemented globally. However these are three major types of Nuclear Reactors:

  1. Pressurised Water Reactor - PWR
  2. Boiling Water Reactor - BWR
  3. Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor - PHWR
